Lake of the Ozarks Speedway
The Lake of the Ozarks Speedway has a banked oval track with an inside edge of 1450 feet and an outside edge of 1850 feet. With a clay surface designed to grip sticky rubber and regularly scheduled races throughout the year, this speedway will thrill you whether you choose to drive or watch the pros. Kids aged 12 and up can take the driver's seat and see what it's like to make innumerable left turns while the rest of the family watches either live on the track or sitting in one of the lounges watching closed circuit TV.
Never been to speedway? That's okay, the rules are simple. Drivers drive counterclockwise for four or more laps on the oval track and see who can get the best time. The competition is fierce and the competitors are all competing for the chance to go to NASCAR, Monaco, and the Indianapolis 500. Families can find camping right on the track, spaces for trailers, and even a place to send the real little ones so they can swing while you burn rubber. The races are a mixture of amateur speed meets to pro exhibitions and the prices are always less than $25 with kids under 12 entering free. Events can be priced as low as $11 per adult if you don't want a pit pass and a chance to meet the racers.
Races usually start at 7:00 pm so you don't need to sacrifice your fun in the sun or your lake time to get a little evening race on. Open events allow juniors and adults alike to feel what it is like to sit behind the wheel of powerful machines and pit themselves against anyone with the grit to give it a go.
