Lake of the Ozarks Ride 4 Research

The Ride 4 Research is in honor of Tom Turner, a favorite son of the Ozarks who spent his life making people happy and inspiring others but sadly passed away at just 57 years old due to cancer. A year after he was gone, his friends and family decided to do something meaningful to celebrate Tom's life and so they created the Ride 4 Research as a fund raising event to help find a cure for cancer.

The event was first held back in 2007 and hosted by Toad Cove and Camden on the Lake. During the day of the event there are a variety of shows and events that take place. Since beginning the event has raised more than $25,000 in funds to help find a cure for cancer. This money was donated to the American Cancer Society for research.

Ride 4 Research 2011 at the Lake of the Ozarks -- Continue

Cancer is one of top causes of death in the United States and despite a long search for a cure, little progress has been made. The American Cancer Society is one of the top research organizations dedicated to finding a way to stop this killer in it's tracks so that people like Tom Turner can live longer and more fruitful lives. Tom would certainly be proud to know that people are biking in his name for such a good cause and that's why friends and family have continued to make the event one of the most feel good fund raisers in the entire Lake of the Ozarks region.

The main event of the fund raiser is the biking event. Held on the 15th of May it draws bike lovers and cycling enthusiasts from across the country to Toad Cove and makes a great event for a great cause. It runs from 10:00 am and runs until midnight. The entrance fee is only $25 and includes breakfast, a very nice ride, live entertainment, a silent auction and the much anticipated Hog Roast and Big Bike Contest.

The 125 mile ride around the lake ends with the hog roads at Toad Cove's Bar & Grill. After that live music, the silent auction, and the awards ceremony take place. Past performers have been the 39th Street Blues Band and Llord NakCor and Big John.
