Lake of the Ozarks Fishing

The Lake of the Ozarks offers the best fishing on earth no matter if it is summer, spring, winter, or fall. Whether you are a professional, an amatuer, or a seasoned pro, fishing is the activity of choice to fill your time with at the Lake of the Ozarks. Fishing season runs from early January to late December and the fish only get a few weeks to rest, so don't be surprised to see people reeling in fighters no matter what time of the year it is.

Records get smashed at the Lake of the Ozarks all the time. How would you like to have caught the 111 pound paddlefish that smashed our state record? At over 90 miles long, the lake hosts huge populations of White Bass, Black Bass, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Kentucky Bass, Rock Bass, Black Crappie, White Crappie, Catfish, Bluegill, and an occaisional 111 pound Paddlefish also known as a Spoonbill, a remnant left over from the age of dinosaurs.. If the bass aren't biting, the crappie are, and if the crappie aren't than you need to change your lure.

For those who want to fish at night, you can do this from September to October. The bass spawn in different seasons but you can always find the best fighting fish in the world ready to take your bait, on the Lake of the Ozarks. The Crappie enjoy warm waters and can usually be found near the heated docks.

Regulations on the lake are strictly enforced. All Crappie must be at least 9 inches long and there is a 15 fish limit for most game fish. Make sure you check in the bait shops to see what fish are in season and which ones are being given a chance to make more fish! Specific rules are posted in marinas and bait shops and of course, if you hire a licensed guide, they'll make sure you aren't endangering the future of fishing here.
