Lake of the Ozarks Boat Races 2010

Each year in September, the Annual Lake of the Ozarks Offshore Super Series National Championship Race draws top competitors and thousands of fans to the shores of the lake. Often called the NASCAR of the boating world, this event won't have left turns but straight, high speed rocket boats reaching peak speeds and demonstrating the top tier of performance for boats.

The racers want to earn the national title and push their machines to speeds that are nearly 200 miles per hour while spectators watch in amazement to see the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.As the final event in the national championship season, this is where the winners and losers get decided for the year. Since the event came to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2007 over 100,000 fans have packed the shores to see just how fast these boats can go

Admission for those who want the best seats is free for kids but $60 per adult including entrance fees, concerts, and the awards ceremonies.

The second great boating race in the lake of the Ozarks is the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. This year it will be held at Captain Ron's Bar & Grill on August 23 - 29th, 2010. This event brings more than a hundred racers and nearly 70,000 spectators! While this event is not sanctioned, the competitors still take their boats up to 196 miles per hour to see who can win the prize and title of 'Top Gun'. It is the largest unsanctioned boating event in the USA.

Those who want to watch the event from their boats will find that Captain Ron's has outfitted two vessels specifically for bringing snacks and refreshments to fans. There are also a number of resorts in the Ozark region that offer special discounts and packages during the race times. As with all events at the Lake of the Ozarks, you will find plenty of vendors, musical entertainment, and great family fun in the area when the boats aren't running.

It's not just August and September that the lake is great for world class boating though. Throughout the year, boaters come to enjoy the many opportunities for jet skis, fishing, sailing, houseboats, and even kayaking. The Lake of the Ozarks has something for every boater whether you want to go 200 miles per hour or just sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and sparkling water in a quiet cove.

Annual Poker Run

Each year, in the latter part of June, the Midwest Boat Party hosts an annual Poker Run at the Lake of the Ozarks . The event is used to help raise money to assist the men, women and families in the U.S. Military through the charitable organization Operation Home Front which provides support and morale assistance for military members and their families on the home front. One thing you may be asking though is What's a poker run? A poker run is a competition where participants need to visit several locations to pick up a card and at the end of the day, they compare hands and the winner takes the pot. What could be more fun than poker? Playing poker in boats for a good cause!
