Fishing at Bull Shoals Lake -- Continue
Bull Shoals Lake has plenty of fish and the locals know exactly how to catch them. If you want to have the best experience possible you might want to hire a fishing guide to show you the sweet spots and tune you into local knowledge and lore. If you prefer to go it alone, make sure you at least stop by one of the bait or tackle shops to find out what the fish are biting, spots that are producing good catches, and to grab some snacks and drinks for your time with the fishing rod and reel.
Live bait is always successful. Ask in the bait shop for night crawlers, red worms, crickets, or other worms. Fish such as the small and large mouth bass in the lake respond well to crankbaits and jigs. Black and white bass seem to prefer live bait most of the time.
If you are going to go for the walleye, remember to fish deep. They like to feed on the bottom so make sure you are bouncing your rattle trap or spinner at least 25 feet below the surface. The crappie like feeding on minnows better than anything else so if you want to have a crappie dinner, make sure you grab some minnows at the baitshop. Feel free to use this joke, the locals know it well. The trout strike fast and hard. Spinners and night crawlers in medium depth water seems to be the ideal for landing these favorite game fish.
Whatever you are fishing for at Bull Shoals Lake, you're sure to catch a good time. See you at the bait shop!
